For most small children, Christmas is a time of presents. As they grow and mature, giving gifts becomes as important as receiving them. Still later, children learn that there is an art to giving a special gift thoughtfully planned and prepared for the recipient. Even more important and much more meaningful is the gift of Christmas Spirit. Christmas Spirit comes from deep within you. It lights up your entire being; it makes your attitude joyous and gracious. It allows others to see the countenance of Christ on your face and in your smile. Jesus is love and His love is contagious. Consider for just a moment how a child feels when he sees a happy person, glowing from within with warm acceptance and a welcoming heart. More than we realize, those memories of love and acceptance are images that can stay with a child for a lifetime.
If you can give a child the gift of the Christmas Spirit, then you’ve given them the greatest gift of all.
