Fishers UMC Blog

I must have rewritten this blog about five times by now.  All on different topics, all things that are going on in my life or the world around us.  But none of them felt right…..

So instead, this is probably going to be the shortest blog ever.  Why?  Because I am in a season right now where I feel God is calling me to slow down, relax, rest in Him.  And I can’t help but wonder if this is something we could all benefit from, especially with the holidays quickly approaching.  So instead of listening to me ramble on about something I think you might like to hear, how about instead we take several moments together and just be, be in God’s presence, forgetting all we have to do, or who to be, just focusing on Him and the amazing love He has given to all of us.

I’m serious… 5 minutes, put your electronic device down… (and here are some things to focus on if needed):

-Focus just on breathing, thank God that you are breathing and that he continues to give you breath.

-Focus on the amazing job God did with creation, the world around us is lovely and often times can be forgotten because of so many distractions in our daily lives.

-Focus on the many blessings in your life, we all can find an abundance of wonderful things going on in our lives, if we take time to  look for them.

Matthew 11:28-30
"Are you tired? Worn out? Burned out on religion? Come to me. Get away with me and you’ll recover your life. I’ll show you how to take a real rest. Walk with me and work with me—watch how I do it. Learn the unforced rhythms of grace. I won’t lay anything heavy or ill-fitting on you. Keep company with me and you’ll learn to live freely and lightly.”  (MSG)
