Apostles from Ephesus
Scripture: Acts 18:27-28(NIV)
27 When Apollos wanted to go to Achaia, the brothers and sisters encouraged him and wrote to the disciples there to welcome him. When he arrived, he was a great help to those who by grace had believed. 28 For he vigorously refuted his Jewish opponents in public debate, proving from the Scriptures that Jesus was the Messiah.
Devotional
I couldn’t read this passage and not also think of our Multiplication focus at Fishers UMC.
The Disciples helped and encouraged believers – They helped grow and clarify the Scriptures, the Word of God, and the outreach of Christianity.
Our Multiplication direction is exactly doing that. From our visits, teaching, preaching and tutoring in Africa, to our intergenerational mission trips, our NEXT group’s local focus and our small study group’s local focus, we are doing exactly that: helping people to grow in the ministry and the lessons of Jesus Christ. We are disciples of Christ. We are following the encouragement of Apollos to both his brothers and sisters then, and our brothers and sisters now.
I love that I see our church accept the challenge to magnify the Word of God. I love seeing the excitement of our adult groups and youth groups reaching out to make a difference in both God’s local community and God’s world. I love that God is using Fishers United Methodist Church as an instrument to spread His Word and grow his truth throughout the world.
Thank you, Lord, for helping us become more passionate in showing and sharing your love. Give us discernment, in our daily lives, so that we can help bring those around us closer to you. Help us Lord, that we can continue to use our Multiplication assets to spread your Word. Thank you, Lord, for the tools you are putting at our disposal. We pray that we can use them to your glory, most Holy God. Amen
