    The Seven Angels

    Scripture: Revelation 15(NIV)

1 I saw in heaven another great and marvelous sign: seven angels with the seven last plagues—last, because with them God’s wrath is completed. 2 And I saw what looked like a sea of glass glowing with fire and, standing beside the sea, those who had been victorious over the beast and its image and over the number of its name. They held harps given them by God 3 and sang the song of God’s servant Moses and of the Lamb:

“Great and marvelous are your deeds,
    Lord God Almighty.
Just and true are your ways,
    King of the nations.
4 Who will not fear you, Lord,
and bring glory to your name?
    For you alone are holy.
    All nations will come
    and worship before you,
for your righteous acts have been revealed.”

5 After this I looked, and I saw in heaven the temple—that is, the tabernacle of the covenant law—and it was opened. 6 Out of the temple came the seven angels with the seven plagues. They were dressed in clean, shining linen and wore golden sashes around their chests. 7 Then one of the four living creatures gave to the seven angels seven golden bowls filled with the wrath of God, who lives for ever and ever. 8 And the temple was filled with smoke from the glory of God and from his power, and no one could enter the temple until the seven plagues of the seven angels were completed.

    Devotional

The book of Revelation contains numerous songs and shouts of praise directed toward Jesus. Let’s take a break from study, and spend some time in worship. Below are some of the prayers and songs from this great book. Read them out loud as your own praise to Jesus!

Revelation 1 “Look, he is coming with the clouds,” and “every eye will see him, even those who pierced him”; and all peoples on earth “will mourn because of him.” So shall it be! Amen.

Revelation 4 “‘Holy, holy, holy is the Lord God Almighty,’ who was, and is, and is to come.” “You are worthy, our Lord and God, to receive glory and honor and power, for you created all things, and by your will they were created and have their being.”

Revelation 5 “You are worthy to take the scroll and to open its seals, because you were slain, and with your blood you purchased for God persons from every tribe and language and people and nation. You have made them to be a kingdom and priests to serve our God, and they will reign on the earth.” “Worthy is the Lamb, who was slain, to receive power and wealth and wisdom and strength and honor and glory and praise!” “To him who sits on the throne and to the Lamb be praise and honor and glory and power, for ever and ever!”

Revelation 7 “Salvation belongs to our God, who sits on the throne, and to the Lamb.” “Amen! Praise and glory and wisdom and thanks and honor and power and strength be to our God for ever and ever. Amen!”

Revelation 11 “The kingdom of the world has become the kingdom of our Lord and of his Messiah, and he will reign for ever and ever.” “We give thanks to you, Lord God Almighty, the One who is and who was, because you have taken your great power and have begun to reign. The nations were angry, and your wrath has come. The time has come for judging the dead, and for rewarding your servants the prophets and your people who revere your name, both great and small— and for destroying those who destroy the earth.”

Revelation 12 “Now have come the salvation and the power and the kingdom of our God, and the authority of his Messiah. For the accuser of our brothers and sisters, who accuses them before our God day and night, has been hurled down. They triumphed over him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony; they did not love their lives so much as to shrink from death. Therefore rejoice, you heavens and you who dwell in them! But woe to the earth and the sea, because the devil has gone down to you! He is filled with fury, because he knows that his time is short.”

Revelation 15 “Great and marvelous are your deeds, Lord God Almighty. Just and true are your ways, King of the nations. Who will not fear you, Lord, and bring glory to your name? For you alone are holy. All nations will come and worship before you, for your righteous acts have been revealed.”

Revelation 16 “You are just in these judgments, O Holy One, you who are and who were; for they have shed the blood of your holy people and your prophets, and you have given them blood to drink as they deserve. “Yes, Lord God Almighty, true and just are your judgments.”

Revelation 19 “Hallelujah! For our Lord God Almighty reigns. Let us rejoice and be glad and give him glory! For the wedding of the Lamb has come, and his bride has made herself ready. Fine linen, bright and clean, was given her to wear.”

    Poem

    Standing On The Sea

Amidst a stormy night at sea
    Lord Jesus came a walking
    Amidst my fears and trembling
    Lord Jesus to me talking
    “Come forth from that to which you cling;
    It never will protect you,
Instead, join me upon the waves
In faith, walk, I’ll direct you!”

I need to learn this lesson now
    Lord Jesus gently teaching
I need to hear this call to trust
    Lord Jesus boldly preaching
For one day soon I’ll find my place
    Upon the glass sea’s water
And there with full voice I will sing
    The praises of my Father

This song of old, sung on the shores
    Of Red Sea’s baptismal power
This song of old, sung at the line
    Of Promised Land’s strong border
I’ll cross the Jordon with the Saints
    I’ll sing Redemption’s story
I’ll join the great eternal throng
    Proclaiming loud God’s glory
