Poem
My King's Desire
Psalm 21
You have granted him his heart’s desire and have not withheld the request of his lips. The Lord will swallow them up in his wrath, and his fire will consume them. You will destroy their descendants from the earth, their posterity from mankind. Though they plot evil against you and devise wicked schemes, they cannot succeed.
Psalm 21: 2, 9b-11
The LORD grants now my King’s desire:
Life salvaged for His children
His glory great
His vict’ry sure
O’er Death’s most violent villain
Despite the evil plotting rude
The wicked schemes devising
Unfailing love
Eternal bless
Stained future be revising
For though the day seems dark and lost
And earth quakes in its mourning
The battle turns
The Son will rise
Life’s resurrection dawning
