Fix Your Thoughts on Jesus, the Faithful Son

    Scripture: Hebrews 3:1-6(NIV)

1 Therefore, holy brothers and sisters, who share in the heavenly calling, fix your thoughts on Jesus, whom we acknowledge as our apostle and high priest. 2 He was faithful to the one who appointed him, just as Moses was faithful in all God’s house. 3 Jesus has been found worthy of greater honor than Moses, just as the builder of a house has greater honor than the house itself. 4 For every house is built by someone, but God is the builder of everything. 5 “Moses was faithful as a servant in all God’s house,” bearing witness to what would be spoken by God in the future. 6 But Christ is faithful as the Son over God’s house. And we are his house, if indeed we hold firmly to our confidence and the hope in which we glory.

    Devotional

    By: Mark Ellcessor

What are you thinking about, right now?

What do you think about when you wake up, go to bed, and your waking hours? What occupies your thought life when you are under stress, overjoyed, and everything in between?

Here’s a better question. What does it mean to “fix your thoughts on Jesus?” Here are some truths about Jesus in the book of Hebrews:

Jesus is greater than the prophets of the Old Testament.

Jesus is superior to the angels of God.

Jesus is worthy of greater honor than Moses.

Jesus is the Son of God, creator of heaven and earth.

Jesus became human, tempted in every way like we are.

Jesus is our high priest, making the perfect sacrifice for our sins.

Jesus shed His blood in place of ours.

Jesus gives us access directly to the throne of God in heaven.

Jesus offers us His Sabbath rest.

Jesus is worthy of our faith.

Jesus is worthy of our action.

Jesus is worthy of our lives.

What are you thinking about, right now?

    Poem

    Forget-Me-Not
    Psalm 103

Bless the LORD, O my soul
And all that is within me bless His holy name! Bless the LORD, O my soul and forget not all His benefits
    Psalm 103:1-2

    Sweet tiny blue flower
    With heart golden hue
    Forget-me-not bouquet
    I give unto you

    I’ll focus, remember
    All that you have done
    Each day as sun rises
    Her courses to run

    With thoughts fixed upon you
    Your benefits strong
    The way you’ve sustained me
    Forgiven my wrongs

    Your constant compassion
    Which heals all my ills
    Your death which redeemed me
    Your love, my heart stills

    O, how could I forget
    Your great loving care?
    Your anger against me
    Reined in, O, forebear!

    Beyond any love
I have known on this sphere
    True love and respect now
    I boldly declare

    So sweet little flower
    Bouquet I now raise
    Accept, Lord, this gift
    As my offering of praise
