Noah Became an Heir of Righteousness
Scripture: Hebrews 11:7(NIV)
7 By faith Noah, when warned about things not yet seen, in holy fear built an ark to save his family. By his faith he condemned the world and became heir of the righteousness that is in keeping with faith.
Devotional
50 years—that is a very long time to build anything. It took Noah that long to build his ark to get ready for the floods that God warned him about. Think about that in biblical days: having a plan, getting supplies and finding people to help. All the while, many did not believe why Noah was so determined to build this ark. He believed in God’s word. Many did not believe in God’s word, coupled with the fact that they had never seen rain, (as stated in Genesis 2:5-6) making it very difficult for the general population to even understand such a phenomena – a flood lasting 40 days. Their lack of faith made it very hard to acquire any of his needs to create his safe place for the upcoming flood. Noah, being the righteous person he was, ultimately forgave all the disbelievers and endured until completion. I feel like that is some really strong faith!
How many times in your life have you had to accept people’s negative opinion of something you are trying to accomplish? Having the confidence to endure until you succeed, passing many hurdles of friends, family and others, repeatedly saying, “Are You Crazy”? Most likely, you weren’t thinking that this was part of God’s plan for your life. Standing up for what you feel is right is what He wants to see you do. Also, to understand how to forgive those that are constantly negatively influencing your choices.
Noah became an heir of righteousness by believing in his faith and forgiving those who tried to stand in his way of creating his Ark. Believe it or not, you can also be an heir of righteousness when you are determined to succeed at a project many feel you cannot. In the end, believe in your faith, listen to God, and enjoy your success.
Poem
Faithful Life
Psalm 35
My tongue will proclaim your righteousness, your praises all day long.
Psalm 35:28
With dream in my mind
With God’s plan in my heart
With saw and with hammer
While I’m set apart
I’ll build in the Kingdom
Put brawn to the test
Though mockers against me
At Satan’s behest
Hurl insults and mockery
My faith deride,
I’ll steadily work on
The plan You decide
As clouds threaten o’er me
As thunder does roll
I’ll hunker down safely
In my heart Your scroll
I’ll watch as the door of
Your safe fold You close
Throughout heavy flooding
Your anchor, my hope
Through forty and forty
And sleepless night’s prayer
I’ll naught let the tossing
O’er shadow Your care
I’ll wait ‘til I rest upon
Great mountain’s height
And watch for the dawning
Beyond peril’s night
Your promise stretched o’er me
Your covenant true
My life be Your altar
With offerings to You
