God Created Everything from Nothing
Scripture: Hebrews 11:3(NIV)
3 By faith we understand that the universe was formed at God’s command, so that what is seen was not made out of what was visible.
Devotional
This verse takes us back to the beginning. The very beginning. The very first verse in the Bible.
In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth. 2 Now the earth was formless and empty, darkness was over the surface of the deep, and the Spirit of God was hovering over the waters. (Genesis 1:1-2)
Genesis starts strong. There was nothing and God created everything. The heavens and the earth. The universe. In addition, everything in the universe. That is pretty big.
My husband loves space and astronomy. We have been to many planetariums throughout the Midwest. I have looked in many giant telescopes. I have watched many planetarium shows. I have looked at his telescope many times. I have absolutely no idea what I am looking at. I have no idea what they are talking about. I absolutely cannot comprehend the magnitude that they are talking about. These stars and galaxies are trillions and zillions of light years away. There are trillions and zillions of stars in the universe.
God created all of it. We are just one very little speck in this enormous universe. The Heavens and the Earth. Our faith tells us that God created it all.
I grew up in a suburb of Chicago. I’m pretty sure that growing up I never looked up at the stars in the sky. When Charlie and I moved to our current house, it was a little ways away from any neighborhoods. I was always amazed in wonder when I looked up and could see the stars. So many stars. It’s easy to be overwhelmed and hard to understand where we fit in this giant universe.
But one thing that Hebrews 11:3 reminds of is that God created it all. God has the power. People have the faith that God created it all by His command. He didn’t build something, but He created something and everything from nothing. More importantly is that God created each one of us. We do fit into this giant Heavens and Earth.

Everything From Nothing
Psalm 29
Ascribe to the Lord, you heavenly beings, ascribe to the Lord glory and strength. Ascribe to the Lord the glory due his name; worship the Lord in the splendor of his holiness.
Psalm 29:1-2
From void to teeming
From chaos to order
From unseen to visible
From invisible to revealed
From sin to forgiveness
From unbelief to faith
From doubt to assurance
From dead to resurrected
The voice of the LORD
The command from His lips
The Word being said
Brings forth
Everything from nothing
Abundance
Creation
Glory
Strength
Splendor
Holiness
Courage
Life
