    Jesus is the True Tabernacle

    Scripture: Hebrews 8:1-2(NIV)

1 Now the main point of what we are saying is this: We do have such a high priest, who sat down at the right hand of the throne of the Majesty in heaven, 2 and who serves in the sanctuary, the true tabernacle set up by the Lord, not by a mere human being.

    Devotional

In the Old Testament we see a tabernacle as a large tent, symbolizing God’s presence and the center of Israel’s worship life. Moving into the New Testament we believe our Lord’s tabernacle, created by God, is a place for the highest authority, the King of Peace, who blesses obedient followers of God, and one who is morally perfect. HEAVEN.

Today, I imagine the tabernacle is the place where Christians come together to worship, sing, pray, and partake in Holy Communion. It can be anywhere Our Lord is, as stated in Hebrews 8; 2 “the true tabernacle set up by the Lord, not be a mere human being.”

Therefore, is it possible a simple tent set up for a revival is a tabernacle? Sure, but it is not the tent that is the tabernacle, it is realizing our Lord is overseeing the activities of the revival from His majestic place, HEAVEN.

Keeping in mind that a true tabernacle, as stated in Hebrews, is a place set up by the Lord, “not by mere human beings”. Heaven is my best description of a tabernacle for me, to really understand this concept. A place for perfection, highest of all priests, and the highest moral authority. It is Our Lord’s resting place. A place where He sees us always and walks along our path to guide us in the right direction, even when we sway the wrong way. A comfortable place we can look up to God when we need Him.

I must admit this tabernacle idea is a very difficult idea to process but I have given my opinion so now it is your turn. What does your tabernacle look like?

    Jesus, My Tabernacle
    Exodus 40

“Set up the tabernacle, the tent of meeting,..”
    Exodus 40: 2a

    O, Law within the veiling
    Your Ark, my cov’nant be
    O, Word of God incarnate
    Your Body, giv’n for me

    O, Table set for feasting
    Despite my foes be strong
O, Shepherd, one who guards me
    With Your sufficient arm

    O, Lampstand, who in darkness
    Shines light upon my way
    O, Glory, ever burning
    On narrow path to stay

    O, Altar burning Incense
    My Intercessor true
O, One who tore the Veil for me
    My entrance unto You

    O, Sacrificial Altar
Your Blood shed there for me
    O, Water cleansing basin
From sin, You’ve set me free

    O, Oil of Consecration
Which sets me in my place
    Anointed, You have claimed me
    And called me from disgrace

O, High Priest dressed in raiment
My name carved in your palm
    To You, my off’ring’s altar,
May I raise up my psalm

O, You, my Cloud of Cov’ring
    God’s glory presence known
    O, You, my Tabernacle
    My dwelling place, my home
